Porous Polymeric Membranes Doped with Halloysite Nanotubes and Oxygenic Polyoxometalates

Endowing anti-fouling capabilities to water treatment membranes is a key feature for their long lifetime, but it continues be challenging task. Herein, strategy preparing composite reported comprising halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) as scaffolds support ruthenium substituted polyoxometalate (Ru4POM), with the goal of using evolved O2, resulting from Ru4POM-catalyzed H2O2 dismutation, agent. Two different amino alkyl derivatives, that is, phosphonate and silane, are grafted, respectively, in lumen on surface HNTs Ru4POM, hybrid nanostructures compared, terms catalytic efficiency stability, establish most promising membrane additive. Porous polyether sulfone–based thus prepared obtain first proof concept this doping strategy. With respect former Ru4POM-containing membranes, provide Earth-abundant low-cost efficient dispersion polymeric matrix. Preliminary tests permeability behavior finally discussed.
